Chinese New Year

On Friday the Lions/Tigers and Little Owls all joined together to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We watched a clip about how families celebrate and then joined in lots of activities. We tried Chinese writing, painted with chop sticks, made dragons and explored an IPad app themed on the

Chinese New Year.

Dressing Up Through the Decades

On Friday lots of us came in dressed up in clothes from different decades. We paraded around the hall to show all the parents and other children. We worked together to create a time line of our outfits and in the afternoon we went to the hall to dance to music from different decades.

Read All About It!

Today we were exploring Fairy tale newspapers. We worked in groups to match headlines to reports. Mrs Butcher and Miss Cushion were super impressed with our team work skills. Next week we will be writing our own newspaper reports based on 'The Emperor's New Clothes'

Sewing!

Lions and Tigers have had a very busy first week back! We all have been looking at the book 'The Emperor's New Clothes' in English and we found it very funny when the Emperor was wearing no clothes! Tigers have been working hard at learning to tell the time and Lions have been busy with fractions. This week we have also started our new topic 'Clothes and Coverings' and as part of it Lions and Tigers will be making their own jumper or t-shirt big enough to fit on a small teddy bear. On Thursday we spent some time in the afternoon practicing our stitching so that we are ready to stitch our fabric together. We all really really enjoyed it and all of the children amazed us with their sewing skills! Have a look at some below.
