Message from Mrs Pell

As our first half term learning Spanish has drawn to a close, I must congratulate all of the children for their outstanding enthusiasm!  You all did a marvelous job singing in our Achievement Assembly!
I hope that your loved ones enjoyed their Valentine's Day cards we made using our new Spanish skills!  I saw many cards with loads of "abrazos y besos" (hugs and kisses) for madres, padres y otra familia (mothers, fathers and other family)!
Our Spanish board is under construction outside of the Cheetah Classroom and will display all of the things we've been learning in KS1 along the right hand side.
Looking forward to teaching you all kinds of new things en español when we return next week!
Hasta la vista (see you later)!
Señora Pell

Time and Tide Visit

On Wednesday we joined the KS1 children from Hickling for a visit to the Lydia Eva and Time and Tide museum. We had a wonderful time and learnt lots about the local history of Great Yarmouth and the role the fishing of herring took in that. The children's behaviour was complemented as 'exemplary'  - we were very proud :) Here are just a few of the many photos we took. Watch out for a display that will put it up in school which will celebrate some of the follow up work from the visit.

3D Shapes

The Tigers have been super enthusiastic with their learning about 3D shapes this week. They have amazed us all with their fantastic use of mathematical vocabulary. We took our learning outside to go on a 3D shape - lots of fun!

Reading Cafe

Another busy week in the Lions and Tigers. On Tuesday we held a Reading Cafe based on the Story 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers (one of Mrs Butcher's favourites!). Some parents and visitors joined us and we had a lovely morning sharing the story and creating puppets so we could re-tell the story to our family and friends. The best bit (of course!) was the squash, biscuits and cups of tea at the end!

Spanish Update From Mrs Pell

The Lions and Tigers class have been delightfully enthusiastic about their brand new Spanish lessons too!  You may hear them singing Spanish songs that help us remember how to say,
"hello, how are you?, very well, thank you!"
(hola, como estas? muy bien, gracias!)

And their favourite one so far that teaches them to ask,
"where are you?" and answer, "here I am!"
(donde esta?, aquis estoy!)
We have also learned how to ask and answer the question, "how are you?" By saying either, "very good, good, ok, bad, or very bad!" Complete with theatrical sign language!
(muy bien, bien, asi-asi, mal, muy mal)
Finally, we have been reading Oso pardo, Oso pardo, que ves ahi? (Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? By Eric Carle) to begin learning colours and animals.  I was very impressed by how quickly the children were able to parrot the pattern of the story in Spanish and their work is simply wonderful!
